About

Je Me Souviens

Je Me Souviens is a Canadian-founded online resource built by high schoolteachers in collaboration with the Royal Montreal Regiment Foundation and the Royal 22ieme Regiment to supplement the Quebec history curriculum and educate students about the role of Quebec's military during the 100+ years of history.

CHALLENGE

Being an online platform and resource center for students to learn history, the biggest challenge in the project was to make education interesting and fun. The client wanted to create visuals and web development for a game about Canadian military medical forces in the Great War as a direct comparison to today's Coronavirus pandemic.

SOLUTION

Using a style that resonated with graphic novels about wartime, we created a world we saw fit to Je Me Souviens's style and tone.

For each illustration, we separated the foreground and background into individual layers to create a parallax effect. This was a technique to animate a scene without needing to animate the elements within it.

From the minute details like the bottle of aspirin to the shoulder patches of the stretcher-bearers, we meticulously illustrated and brought to life an interactive space that was both fun

and educational.
